Moors & Coast

A story of a wintery bikepacking adventure along the forgotten Yorkshire coast. A story written for WIELRENBLAD magazine. From the colds of a January exploration, to some nice and inspiring reading material in the warmth of your home during spring… and who knows, maybe your next adventure this summer.

Along the UK coast lies hidden in plain sight a piece of Yorkshire. Often unjustly overlooked by cyclists, this part of England is well worth riding your gravel bike. They knew that along the Yorkshire coast, and now we know too.

In 2024 Komoot released a new gravel cycling x bikepacking route created by Markus Stitzm called Route YC (Yorkshire Coast). Based on an existing car experience, the route was created as an alternative way to discover some of the most unique and beautiful places no car can ever get. From rocky shores to moody moors and lovely coastal towns like Scarborough, Whitby, and Robin Hood’s Bay. Route YC takes you through all of them and more.

Based on a recon we did back in January, I wrote an article for the Dutch cycling magazine WIELRENBLAD, for sale now.

Visit my Komoot collection below to see more of this adventure and experience it yourself.
